My good friend Peter has come to town with his girlfriend, Jo, for a visit. Peter was living in Japan from 2002-2003 and was one of my good mates. Fantastic to catch up.
Lots of weird and oddness all around. I was knackered from just walking around. So much to see in a space that was WAY TOO HOT that it made me feel ill. But a good day and I was able to see the Robot Birthing Machine up close and personal.
Tokyo Kink Society dropped into Araku for an impromptu rope show. Visiting UK rope expert shows his talents.
This photo shows the numerous homeless setting out their boxes as makeshift shelters for the night. If I am coming home late via Shinjuku I often see this sight. I think the tragedy is not so much the homeless guys themselves - you can find homeless in every large city - it is that they are largely not acknowledged by general society. Out of sight and out of mind and so many citizens of Tokyo are unaware of the problem and I have heard some people even deny the existance of any homeless. I have rarely seen people begging on the streets which is a marked difference of the culture within the Japanese homeless subculture.
There are few charities providing shelters/food drops and the few that are around receive little if any government support. It seems that once you slip through the cracks of general society here you are invisible and left to your own survival.

Well everybody is supposed to get 15 minutes aren’t they? Anyway, here is the finished cover for May’s Being a Broad magazine. It was a heap of fun doing the shoot. I will get a PDF of the cover and article so I can send it around to people (yes Mum for you!!) so you can email it to all your friends.
Go on, get yourself a subscription - it is fairly cheap for the year and a good read. If you are living outside Japan, just send them a note and ask them for international subscription rates.
