We were welcomed by local officials and were fed and watered in style.

For sake distillery.
Water runs from one of the many sake distilleries in this stunning little town. Everything is very traditional.
We are on a roadtrip to Hida in Gifu-ken. After a long bus ride we were presented with this feast. Yum!

It is again family birthday time here at The Keitai Goddess. This time it is the birthday of my fabulous mother, Barbara.
My mother is loved and adored by everybody that she meets. Her soul is honest and pure and possessing a drive and self-discipline that has taken her far far away from the dairy farm where she grew up. Her unconditional love and support has seen Richard and I through the very best and the very worst that life has thrown at us and given us the strength to face it all with grace and dignity. She sets the example of morality, without ceremony or judgement, that provides the litmus test for my own endeavours. Even if I fail or let her down she is there, smiling and loving, encouraging, understanding and never holding grudges. What a trial I must have been as a self-important teenager.
She has taught me the love of travel and real-estate, the rewards of self achievement and the lessons of preparation and planning. She is truly interested in my world, my friends and selflessly provides tools, information and newspaper clippings to enhance our lives. Mothers and daughters always have an interesting dynamic - I wouldn’t want to change ours for anything.
I love you Mum - thank you for being you!!

On this blog, I often mention Araku but using the keitai limits the length of the posts. Here is a longer review of the bar that I wrote for the Australia Society newsletter and also some photos of the recent renovations.
Already!! A very mild Tokyo Winter has brought out our tulips early.

Punter getting a waxing at an S&M themed bar in Azabu Juban. More theatrics than anything more serious.
