For the word had passed around, the Yamanote train had (not) got away from Tokyo station.
Sad really as it means another sad soul has jumped. This is a nearly daily occurence here. Last year suicides were more than 30,000 people. Japan needs to address the level of mental health care and understanding for the population.
(My apologies to Banjo Patterson for taking liberties with his classic Australian Poem, “The Man from Snowy River”)

How did you finally get home? Did you wait it out?
Hi Felix!! Good to see you again.
It was past my dinner time and I was hungry. So I took myself off to dinner and read a book.
The announcements said the trains would be back running in 45 minutes. I waited an hour and all was fine.
The sad thing was though, there were leftovers in the fridge at home that were so much yummier than the dinner I bought. I should have jumped in a cab and gone home.
