I love it! I took a photo of the “Please do it at home” one of cell phone use because it was so funny, and also so different than the US in that people actually follow it in Japan!

I have been documenting the manner poster series on my blog for a few years now. I find the posters hilarious. “Do this, don’t do that!!” Very paternalistic.
The best one is the girls doing make-up on the train. Lots of young girls do it here but for some reason it really bothers alot of commuters.
If you have ever been on a subway in Hong Kong the difference is astounding. People yapping away on their phones and talking in voices above a whisper. Nobody seems to mind and the trains run on time just as well. But the Japanese subway system has dozens of unwritten rules as well as these manner posters to remind people of them.
