Arrived home at 2am Sunday morning after a night out to a horrible experience. Our keys wouldnt work in the front door! We had to wake up the caretaker and her master key didnt work either. Had to call the locksmith who went through the peep hole and flicked open the lock with a bent metal rod specially shaped for this. He changed the locks and we were inside in less than an hour. Cost 12,000 Verdict was an old lock that just decided to die at 2am!

Ugh. Hopefully you got to sleep past noon on Sunday.
You poor kids. Of course if it was going to happen it would be at the worst time.
Yes but we had to pay for it.
The update is that now the building management are going to reimburse us. It seems the locks ar every old. They change them between tennants but just swap them around and not with new ones. So this may be the first one of many if the locks are all the same age.
Fortunately the superintendant knows that it wasn’t our fault that we got her and her husband out of bed in the middle of the night. So we now have a few points up our sleeve to perhaps exchange for things later on.
Hmmm perhaps you might want to suggest they look at replacing the locks in general. Bet those old ones are ripe for the pickin’….
Got my money back!!! YAY!!
I was there, and I can attest that the lock was completely broken. Unfortunately, cats don’t have thumbs, otherwise she could have let us in without any hassle.
a bent rod through the peephole?? hmmm.. that sounds close to either tricky-dicking yer dads car or more fun than …. well, maybe Chin Chin Delivery!
